“T” Day!
Finally! July 1st… “T” day. The day we planned to sail off. But wait, should we really leave today? Maybe tomorrow?
-

Preparing for “T”
One month left to complete all the preparations for leaving, and LOTS to be done and even more to store!
-

Sail Away Party!
Sail Away party! We have family and friends join us to celebrate the beginning of our adventures! Yippie!
-

“Nesting” Project
The nesting process is making the boat a safe, comfortable, and happy home – what stuff and where to put it.
-

Masts and More…
Now that we’re back afloat and living on board again, we need to finish and re-assemble a lot of things before we can sail.
-

DIY Hall
Here’s where we start doing the work ourselves… in the aptly named do-it-yourself hall. Dione IV will look better than new!
-

Painting Hall
Off to the painting hall we go, and Dione IV gets several layers of primer underneath our new Coppercoat bottom paint.
-

Grit Blasting
Dione IV is moved to the grit blasting hall, will be wrapped in thick plastic foil, and the bottom will be blasted with grit.
-

Steel Welding
In the steel welding hall, convex shapes are added for the bow thruster for improved hydrodynamics.
-

Bowthuster
To install the bowthruster, we cut 2 HUGE holes in the bow of Dione’s hull, below the waterline. What?!!! Really?
