Yes, we realize this sounds totally crazy: a light in the toilet bowl 🤣
But… our toilet pump doesn’t like air in it. And if we pump out a bit too far, it sucks air in and stops draining. After that, it’s very hard to bleed and it takes a long while to get rid of the air and restore pump capacity. So, the “trick” is to stop pumping right before the water level reaches the toilet’s exit hole. No problem. That has been working for 21 years.
But when we go to the toilet at night, we don’t like to switch the light on as it wakes us up too much. So we can’t see the water level in the bowl and sometimes accidentally sucks air in. So the idea is to have a little light when it pumps.
We have some of the LED strip left. Let’s stick a piece of that under the toilet seat.
Use some flat cable to power it.
Connect it to the pump out switch…
..with a tiny little dimmer. We just need a very faint light and these LED strips are very bright.
It works! 😂
But, even with the dimmer at its lowest level, it’s still too bright at night. So that needs some more modification…
Wim applies a resistor to it, and then we can adjust the light down some more. It takes 3 nights of testing and adjusting, and then we have it just right!!!! Luxury toilet with bottom lighting, ha ha… who would have imagined! 🙂
