For all our family and friends, and especially cruising friends…
I (Sher) got inspired and updated a traditional little holiday poem!
Merry Everything and Happy Always!
T’was the night before Christmas on the north coast of Spain,
The lights were strung up on the mizzen and main.
Inside of the boat was the branch of a pine,
small though it was, with some lights it looked fine!
We placed a few ornaments, festive and nice…
All from Sher’s childhood and all of them mice!
With little mouse ornaments hung on the boat,
the tradition of Mouse-mas is now brought afloat,
But the weather and waves made our little boat rock,
and we needed to keep the boat safe on the dock.
Our lines were tied tightly with extra big rope,
So the boat would stay put… well, at least that’s the hope!
We wondered if Santa would somehow appear,
He can swim, surely, but do his reindeer?
Do sleighs have EPIRB, AIS, and good charts?
And, we hope he is carrying sufficient spare parts!
T’was the night before Christmas, and here in the boat,
We are warm and so happy together afloat.
Small tree branch, mouse ornaments, lots of good cheer,
It’s joyful on board and we’re glad to be here!
T’was the night before Christmas when we heard an “ahoy!”,
It brought to our hearts such a feeling of joy!
We could be mistaken, the red light we saw,
Was it nav lights, or Rudolf… we watched it with awe.
Whether sailboat or sleigh, dancing waves with such ease,
Moving so swiftly with quite a good breeze.
Then heard in the distance as it seemed to take flight,
Merry Cruising to all, and to all a good night!
